Our visit to Halong Bay was a side trip for the NZ contingent prior to joining the Intrepid Gourmet Traveller. We had organised the tour from New Zealand and at a cost of about NZ$200(US$100) it provided the return mini-bus, one night's accommodation in Halong Bay and a day boat trip on the Bay. In Hanoi we saw similar trips albeit at a lesser standard of "luxury" for US$36.
Left to our own resources for the evening meal we managed to miss out on any gastronomic delights. Armed with the Lonely Planet which warned of dog being served at one of the restaurants and not being able to positively identify which restaurant was the one to avoid we returned to the hotel to eat what could be described as a less than average hotel meal (at least it was Vietnamese).
For our boat trip on the Bay we had a huge boat to ourselves, the crew, our guide My and a cook who produced a magnificent array of seafood treats on a single burner. |

Dear Tungrua,
We noticed that you did not send this link only once and this forum does not accept advertising. Thanks also for your posting(s) to our Vietnam related section.
We will accept your link in exchange with ours edited in your website, but we would rather get you to give us some tips on Vietnam to promote your country. |
