You have to visit Thai embassy and ask for visa, if you are lucky they will give you double entry tourist visa. In total 6 months.
After these 6 months you can head to Penang and apply for a new visa at the Thai embassy, they may give you another 3 or 6 months.
Tourist visa is 2 months visa but you can extend it with one month for 1900 baht and thus, 3 months. Then you need to do a visa run.
Some long term tourists here don't have a visa and is doing a visa run every month, but later this year this way may not be possible anymore. I read somewhere they may only allow up to 6 tourists visas in passport, if you have more you can't enter Thailand. |

| First time for me on this forum or any forum. I've been coming to Thailand for over 30 yrs. They changed visa requirements many times. My suggestion: Don't know what country you are from, but here goes. Get a 1 yr Non Immigrant visa, in the US, it cost $125. Go to an Honorary Consulate, don't go to LA, NY Consulate, they give you a hard time. You must explain why you want this visa. Just say you have friends and family living in Thailand and want to stay longer to visit everyone and travel the country. Ask for multi entry visa also. This way you can leave the country as many times you want in the year period and come back and still maintain the initial visa. The only stipulation is you must leave the country every 90 days. You can do a border run for this purpose, no problems there. Hope this all makes sense. |
