PAKFAN is newly released novel based in the Hong Kong of the 1960's. It tells the tale of a boy who makes a success of life inspite of his struggle to keep a heroin addict father supplied. The location and historical details are authentic because the author was eductaed in Hong Kong before returning to UK to complete her studies. This is a good read, and what could be a depressing theme is lightened by the authors 'wicked' sense of humour which runs right through the book. Worth a look!
