I will be traveling on business to the following countries. I leave April 15th.
The countries are Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand.
I am looking for advice on reasonable hotels, getting internet access, whether it makes sense to rent a gsm global phone here in the states and making international calls within Asia and back to the states, apaptors, transportation getting to the airport and to customer cites, etc. If anyone has traveled to this many countries before in a 1 month period, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks.

As to mobile communications, it would be best to get a phone on global roaming when travelling to Asia as that would prove to be more cost efficient in making international calls back to the US. However, since you are to do local business, it would be advised to have a spare phone where you can slip in a local sim card from the country you're in. This will prove to be more cost efficient and make contact with locals faster. Relying on international connection can be frustrating at times.
As to the and service apartments.. well... I cannot give much advise on that as my company normally pays for accomodation. But if you have your own business and want to save... you can check your reward points (frequent flyer) or check out www.moveandstay.com.
I may be of some assistance to local accomodations in Manila. Let me know if you are interested. |
