I am a US citizen married (the marriage was performed in the US) to a Malaysian citizen who is also a US Permanent Resident. We both reside (together) in the US. Is there any benefit to our registering our marriage in Malaysia? Also, can we do it if only one of us is present in the country?

We both went to Malaysia in 2004 but couldn't register our marriage because we didn't have the marriage certificate with us. Now, she (the Malaysian) is going back this year (but, without me Crying or Very sad --I really wish I could go, but I have to work). Can she bring the marriage certificate and register our marriage? I have this sense that we should--but, is there really any benefit? Thanks, so much for any help and advice you can give us.

Best post this in the Malaysian Expat Forum-Immigration and not this Express Tourism Forum. You'll get more responses there.
