VIETNAM VISAS

Travelers visiting Vietnam are given 30 days visas. It is required that visas be acquired at the Vietnamese Embassy before arrival in Vietnam. Some Vietnamese Embassies will accept visa applications directly from the traveler. To promote organized travel in Vietnam, Vietnamese Embassies require that you go through a Vietnamese tour company in Vietnam to get your visa clearance. The costs are somewhat cheaper to get it through a Vietnamese tour company.
The following are the procedures to process a tourist visa:

REQUIRED

Personal information: Full Name; passport number; date of birth ; nationality; proposed date of entry
Upon fulfilling the above information you may send this information to a Vietnamese tour company in Vietnam to apply the visa clearance. What the visa clearance means is that the tour company applies on your behalf. A clearance number is then sent to the Vietnamese Embassy where you had chosen to get the visa stamped. Also a copy of that clearance number is sent to you.

Fill out an M3 form that is supplied by the tour company or the Vietnamese Embassy (service fee will be charged for the clearance application)
Attach a passport photo to the M3 form
Bring the visa clearance letter with you to the Embassy with the M3 form
If you have the clearance letter you can get the visa the same day.
Without the clearance letter you will have to wait from 2 – 5 working days.
The cost for the visa stamp is approximately 25 USD (or in the value of you country’s currency).
Option 2: We can apply for you to get a visa upon arrival at Tan Son Nhut Airport, Ho Chi Minh City. The visa is done by us.
Before receiving your visa, you will show a document to the immigration officer at the airport. Once they confirm the visa, the visa is stamped. This process will cost 90 US/person. The costs include all fees relating to getting the visa.

Please provide the following information for us to apply for your visa.

1. full name on passport
2. passport number
3. date of birth
4. nationality
5. date of arrival
6. flight number and time
7. fax number where we can fax you

If we receive the above information we will process the visa within 5 working days.

UPON ENTRY AT VIETNAM’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Vietnamese Entry /Exit forms will be passed out during the connecting flight to Vietnam.
Customs require usd 3,000 or more to be declared on the customs form.
Recorded videotape must be left with customs for security check, and to be picked up 2 –3 days after.
An extra M3 form must be filled out with passport photo attached, for first time travelers. The M3 form is the same form you filled out at the Vietnamese Embassy for your visa. Make an extra copy for yourself to present on arrival.

VISA TIPS:

Travelers are allowed to arrive at 3 airports in Vietnam ( Noi Bai – Hanoi / Tan Son Nhat – Saigon/ Danang Airport). You will see this written in your visa.
Crossing into Vietnam by land travelers must acquire the Vietnam visa in advance.
To enter by border crossing into Vietnam, travelers have to get an entry permission from the Vietnam Embassy located in the country of the intended crossing.
Tourist visas can be extended at our office for an additional 30 days from expiration of the present visa. This process takes 3 working days.
When traveling overnight outside of the main cities, you must have your passport and visa with you.
Business visas are available for 6 months or more for people who intend to do business in Vietnam.
To exit Vietnam by land to a bordering country, an exit permit is needed. The process takes 4 days and can be done at our office
Usually permits to exit by land, and extensions are easier done in Saigon than Hanoi. Permit to exit by land into China ( Lao Cai & Lang Son) must be done in Hanoi. It will take at least 2 working days.
Visas can be picked up at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Saigon) on arrival, but advance application to our Vietnam office is needed.)
Rush visas can be processed within 12 hours to enter Vietnam.
Here's a quick checklist for people acquiring Vietnam visas in the U.S .

fill out the M3 form with attached passport photo (you'll need to keep an extra form filled out to be given at the immigration booth on arrival.)
a cashier's check for the cost of your visa stamp written out to " Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam"
Please call the Embassy to make sure of the cost and payment. They do sometimes change policies.
your passport. ( make sure you make photo copies of your passport first)
a self addressed express mail envelope (so that you would receive the passport back quickly).
our invitation letter ( please make a copy for your file)
