In Vietnamese cultural life, a market place is a meeting place, not simply a trading place. This concept has always remained within Vietnamese culture. In childhood, there is not a child who does not want his or her mother to take them to the markets. Why? If one lives in a remote area and you have to work hard in the fields

or elsewhere to make a living. People have socially few opportunities to meet friends, relatives or neighbors. Without a marketplace, life can be quite boring. With general consensus, communities chose to hold markets on specific days depending on when it’s most convenient for people to attend markets for many more reasons

than for just shopping, for example people want to meet with others, they feel a need to belong to a community, and also they may wish to share their dress sense with others. Often people go to a great deal of effort to travel long distances over many hills and valleys even if they cross land borders just to get their markets or meeting places. There is always a lot of excitement and joy associated with the marketplace environment.
