Vietnam has a rich culture, spectacular scenery and intriguing history. Most visitors to the north are overwhelmed by the beauty of the country's natural setting, but it is the people who will bring you back again and again. The hilltribe people of northern Vietnam have lived in Vietnam for thousands of years.. Most individual ethnic groups are easily identified by differences in their language , physical features and traditional dress. On this program you will live with, and participate in, the daily lives of dozens of different hill tribes: the Black H'mong, Red Dzao, Tay and the Xa Pho, Thai, etc..,We will trek from village to village through terraced fields of rice to meet our host families. Daily activities include working in the fields, working on the houses, embroidering new clothes for the New Year, tending the animals and participating in local song and dance. Evening will be set-aside for local language lessons, tribal council meetings and cooking with your families.
