Procedure 1. Obtain an attestation on the uniqueness of selected company name from the Centre National du Registre du Commerce (CNRC); pick up registration forms
Time to complete: 1 day
Cost to complete: DA 490
Comment: Da 480 for name research and Da 10 fiscal stamp.
It is necessary to fill out a form listing the four candidate company names and pay a amount of fee. The CNRC does the name search and issues a name certificate on the same day.
Procedure 2. Deposit the start-up capital with the notary public
Time to complete: 1 day
Cost to complete: no charge
Comment: The notary deposits the capital in the bank and obtains a deposit certificate before drawing up the statutes.
Procedure 3. Draw up and notarize the company constitution documents, specimen of managers' signatures and the lease for the registered office of the company
Time to complete: 7 days

Comment:
5% if the capital of the company is less than 100.000 DA
1% if the capital of the company is between 100.000 and 200.000DA
0.80% if the capital of the company is between 200.001 and 300.000DA

Procedure 4. Obtain the criminal record and birth certificates of the founders

Comment: One can apply for the criminal record (extrait de casier judiciaire) anywhere since 2003 - no need to visit the Clerk of the Court in the birthplace. The criminal record is required from the manager only who must file it with the Trade Register.
Procedure 5. Publish the company constitution on the legal journal (B.O.A.L.) and a nationally circulated newspaper

Comment: The two newspapers are Arabic and French respectively. The fee for one line is DA30 to 43
Procedure 6*. File for company registration with the commercial registry within two months of the formation of the company

Three Departments are handling social security matters:
The Caisse Nationale des Assurances Sociales des Travailleurs Salariés ("CNAS"). It receives the declaration of employees
The Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale des Non Salariés ("CASNOS"). It receives the declaration of employers.
The Caisse Nationale d'Assurance Chômage ("CNAC"). it is the competent authority in case of unemployment

Registration and licensing procedures
First, registration with the Trade Register is compulsory prior to any commercial activity in Algeria. The operator has to contact the National Centre of the Trade Register (CNRC). The registration fees amount to DZD 4,000 (stamps) and DZD 3.950 (common law).
Foreign exchange control
Currency exchange control is rather flexible in Algeria.
