I really doubt it.
I mean in Western Australia, a learns permit is exactly that, its a permit not a licence, all it was when I lived there was a piece of paper. All it entitles you to do is drive with a licence driver supervising.
In the ACT, the motorcycle learners licence actually entitles you to ride undersupervised for upto 2 years. So that could be considered a licence (well its called a licence and appears on your drivers licence).
Do yourselves a favor and get your licence back home before coming here, and get yourselfs an internation driving permit too.
You can't rent a car here without a UAE drivers licence or an International drivers permit. And you can't get a UAE drivers licence until you get residency visa, so without an international driving permit you're screwed if your visa takes a while.
To get a licence here is a real pain if you don't have a licence from a list of approved countries like US, UK, Australia etc. You have to do a course before you can sit your exam and the whole process takes forever, I've been told like 6 months by people. If you have an UK or Australian licence its simple to get a UAE licence, if you have a good public relations officer working for your employer. |
